GLOSSARY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE UNIT 2

Bush: a large plant with lots of braches that is smaller than tree and grows close to the ground
Desert: an area of land that recives less than 250mm of rain per year
Deciduous: a type of tree that loses all of its leaves in autumn 
Jungle: an area with lush vegetation and high rainfall wtih an equatorial climate 
Livestock: domestic animals raised of farms 
Logging: the work fo felling trees and transporting the logs for sale 
Meadow: an area of grassland
Mild: moderate or not extreme
Oasis: a small area in a desert with water and vegetation
Pasture:an area with grass or other vegetation , easten as dood by grazing animals 
Precipitation: a form of water that falls to the earth´s surface 
Savannah: a flat grassland in tropical or subtropical regions
Scrub: low trees or shrubs that grow in areas with little rain 
Stttlement: a place where people have gone to live and where no or few people lived before 
Steppe: a grassy plain usually without trees
Taiga: the forests located in the Earth´s northern regions consisting of evergreen trees
Tempertate: the mildest of the Earth´s three climate zones.The temperate zones have moderate temperatures and precipitation 
Tundra: the vast, treeless area in the Artic regions with low-growing vegetaation such as lichens mosses
